For this project, Intro to Digital Design students are tasked with creating an original mask design. They first begin by researching mask and the cultures associated with them. Drawing from their research, they next begin sketching their own designs, that are then created as a vector drawing. Using this as a basis, they next physically create the mask as a 3D object, using only paper as the main material for it's creation.
The completed masks are photographed and then taken into Photoshop for editing, where backgrounds and other effects are added. This is a BIG project that not only introduces many software techniques, but also introduces the idea of production and time management for students, as this project overlaps other projects during the semester.
